Since the beginning of this pandemic there has been significant planning at all levels to ensure that we have taken every action, following Government and Public Health advice. This has ensured that our staff/pupils have remained as safe as possible and our school was able to safely remain open throughout lockdown and has been ready to welcome back wider pupils from the 1^st June.

Throughout the lockdown period we have continued to support high levels of key workers and vulnerable children and I am really proud of our achievements.

Today, we have 158 children (including 33 nursery children) accessing in-school provision across all year groups.

This equate to approximately 33% (one third) of the whole school population and is one of (if not) the top successes within Wigan borough.

In addition, we have a really high proportion of children who are daily accessing Class Dojo to participate in remote learning.

These are phenomenal statistics and do not reflect the current media reporting.

Our dedicated teachers and support colleagues have continued to support the Platt Bridge community throughout these unprecedented times.   

I’d like to place on record my thanks to each and every pupil, parent and carer across our school community for your trust, support and sincerity. It has not gone unnoticed. Most importantly it has been really appreciated by myself and our school team. Thank you.

Our school team is looking forward together with optimism. We are looking forward to welcoming more children back to school as the lockdown continues to be eased.

We will be contacting all parents/carers next week with a date and time for a virtual parents evening meeting (via zoom) so that you can have a discussion with your child’s current class teacher and look ahead. Most importantly we want to share your child’s successes from this academic year. 

I fully understand and appreciate that many parents/carers are feeling anxious about September. I have started working on three planning scenarios so that our school will continue to have strong, purposeful teaching; a well-planned curriculum and powerful welfare and pastoral systems whatever the Government decides. Once the Government publishes further advice/guidance I will share these plans with you.

At the end of every week, it feels a like a lifetime has passed in this fast-moving and strange world we live in. Take some time to rest over the weekend.
